The Kensington was by far the largest house I had built to date, and was built specifically for the first show I exhibited at the 2010 Kensington Dollshouse Festival, hence the name of the house being “Kensington”.

Overall house size: 1100mm wide x 640mm deep x 1100mm high

Everything about this house has been done on a grand scale, and will provide the miniaturist who buys one ample opportunity to enjoy their passion for their hobby.

Including the spaces leading off from the feature central staircase, there are a total of 12 rooms, accessed by way of 12 lift off panels, 10 rectangular ones to the front, one triangular gable panel to the front, and a triangular gable panel to either end of the house.

There are a total of approx 70 working lights, including 3 Tudor style chandeliers in the roof space. The chandeliers have been wired via a separate circuit to the wall lights and concealed roof lights in the roof space, so you can choose to light this area by way of either type of lights or by both at the same time.

As in all of my houses, the lights on each floor of the house are wired independently so that you can choose which floors you want to light at any one time, and in what ever combination. The Kensington has the lights on each floor split between the left and right side of the house, so that you have even more lighting combinations.

The fireplaces on the ground and first floor not only have concealed lights inside them, but also have sockets for you to be able to connect working fires.

The roof space is a magnificent feature of the house, formed in a “cathedral” style, which extends the whole length of the house, and can be viewed from both ends of the house and from the centre roof panel.

The central staircase is also another impressive feature of the house, with a stairwell which runs from the ground floor to the roof space, and which is lit all the way through.

I have introduced a much more detailed window style, which not only has a horizontal mullion forming a more authentic looking fanlight style window, but also includes rectangular leaded light glazing.

There is ample space on the surrounding paved areas to the front and side of the house, to enable you to bring you passion for miniatures, from the inside to the outside of the house.
